Time to Complete an HR Degree

Certificate & Associate’s

A certificate or associate’s degree in human resources requires 10 to 24 months to complete.

Bachelor’s

The majority of bachelor’s programs in business administration specializing in human resource management may be completed within 15 months from the time of enrollment. However, a typical bachelor’s HR program takes 4 years to complete.

Master’s

A Master’s of Human Resources Management (HRM) can be earned within 10 months for an online program and 24 months for a traditional campus-based program.

Program Requirements

For enrollment into a certificate, associate’s or bachelor’s degree program of business administration, a high school diploma is required.

A bachelor’s degree in business is preferred for any MBA program, including Human Resource Management. In addition, most business schools offering an HR program require applicants to submit the results of their PHR (Professional of Human Resources) certification awarded by HRCI. The Cost of a Human Resources Degree

An HR associate’s degree ranges from $3700 to $6000 for a 2 year program, depending on the institution. Tuition for a human resources bachelor’s program will average around $12,000 to $20,000 for a 4-year degree. For an MBA or Master’s of Human Resource Management, a student can pay as little as $5600 and as much as $115,000, again depending on the institution.
