Specialty master's degrees provide students with advanced-level training in a specific specialty area such as accounting, international management, human resources management, or many others. While MBA programs focus on general management skills, specialty master's programs provide a narrower, in-depth focus on issues related to a specific field.
This means that while both an MBA with a focus on accounting and a Master of Accounting (MAcc) degree will prepare you to assume managerial positions within the field of accounting, the MBA degree will provide you with more general skills that are transferable to other areas, while the MAcc will provide you with greater accounting expertise, but fewer transferable skills.
