sports management salary

Sports management professionals combine their love for sports with business skills. Because the field is so diverse and encompasses all the different aspects of the business of sports, you'll find everyone from former athletes to lawyers, accountants and business management professionals on the job.

Sports management careers can pay very well, depending upon which aspect of the field you decide to enter. Entry level salaries may be low-to-average, but there is tremendous room for advancement. For example, if you choose to become a sports agent, you might find yourself looking at a lucrative bonus plan on top of your regular pay.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics suggests that jobs in sports management will grow faster than average through 2014 because of expansion due to multi-billion dollar profits from the sports industry. Competition for these jobs is high, however, because the glamour of the sports industry currently lures more job seekers than there are jobs.
