Associate of Science in Accounting

Associate of Science in Business Administration - Management

The modern business world is complex, and successful companies and organizations need the leadership of skilled management professionals with the industry-current knowledge and qualifications to stay competitive in an increasingly global marketplace.

The goal of Colorado Technical University's ASBA degree program with a concentration in Management is to introduce students to the analytical and decision-making skills common to many of today's management professionals.

In this career-focused curriculum, students will be given the opportunity to learn how management professionals formulate the policies and direct the operations of corporations, non-profit institutions and government agencies. Successful completion of this program can prepare graduates to demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of management, including how to:

  • Apply appropriate concepts and principles of business administration to participate in effective, ethical decision-making
  • Explain the nature and role of business in global markets
  • Demonstrate professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Compare and contrast the different forms (size, structure and legal entities) of businesses
  • Utilize emerging technologies, considering the impact on organizations both internally and externally
  • Discuss how HR and management skills can be used in organizational settings

In addition to the general education requirements, the ASBA with a concentration in Management includes career-focused courses taught by instructors whose real-world experiences have provided them with the tools and insights necessary to understand and analyze the characteristics of human beings and organizational situations. This program satisfies the course requirements for the first two years of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree program.

Bachelor of Science in Accounting

An increase in the number of businesses, changing financial laws and regulations, and increased scrutiny of company finances presents new knowledge opportunities for accountants and auditors. Increasingly, accountants also are assuming the role of personal financial advisor. In response to the changing business climate, financial specialists may offer more financial management and consulting services as they take on a greater advisory role.

The Bachelor of Science in Accounting (BSACC) degree program is designed so graduates could learn a variety of skills including corporate accounting, taxation, governmental and not-for-profit accounting, and auditing. In addition, the curriculum provides students with an opportunity to develop intellectual, interpersonal and communication skills that may contribute to a graduate’s success in the business world.

In this industry-current program, our project-based Professional Learning Model™ can offer you an opportunity to understand fundamental accounting concepts and explore today's accounting environment. The CTU PLM™ is designed to place you in the active role of collaborative problem-solver and project initiator, helping you learn marketable skills as you develop intellectual, interpersonal and communication skills that can be beneficial in today's business world.

For students with eligible college or military experience, Colorado Technical University's Bachelor's Degree Completion Program is designed to enable completion of a Bachelor's degree in as little as 17 months.**

**The 17-month Bachelor's degree assumes that all Associate-level requirements have been met through an Associate degree or the equivalent. Program length varies by program.

Are you interested in pursuing a career that is in increasing demand? If so, then earning a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management (BSISM) can be a great start. Positions in computer and information systems management are projected to grow by 16 percent through the year 2016*.

The Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management degree program is designed to combine "soft" skills with technical skills and develop professionals who can manage technology in harmony with human resources. Along with developing important basic skills in areas including English, math, science and the humanities, you can learn practical, real-world skills such as professional communication, team building and project management techniques. You can also learn technical skills such as planning, implementing, programming, maintaining and managing computing and information technology systems from professors who have professional IT management experience.

Bachelor of Science in Management

In today's complex business environments, working professionals are increasingly called upon to perform key management functions. Whether in small office settings or in large corporate environments, a broad range of supervisory and management positions can be pursued by those with the right qualifications.

The CTU BSM program is designed to help motivated business professionals understand basic functional areas of management and the critical skills necessary to solve business problems. The curriculum is structured to provide students with the knowledge, skills and confidence to build leadership skills and prepare for future opportunities.

*The student seeking a BSM degree must have an Associate degree from an accredited university or college. The general education core for CTU Bachelor of Science degrees must be met prior to graduation. These requirements may be met as a combination of courses completed as part of the Associate degree, additional transfer credit from outside institutions granted by CTU, and by additional coursework prescribed by CTU upon acceptance into the BSM program. BSM includes approximately 90 credit hours of transfer credit from an Associate Degree program. Students will be required to have 182 credits for graduation; a student could complete the degree program with more than 182 credits.

CTU's Bachelor of Science in Project Management degree program is based on the Project Management Institute's (PMI®) Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), which is the recognized industry standard. Along with basic undergraduate foundational studies including English, math, social science and technology, you can learn real-world project management skills from instructors with experience in this profession. Some of these skills include project planning; time and conflict management; human resource management; risk analysis and management; modern scheduling techniques; an understanding of organizations, teams and processes; budgeting and cost control systems; Microsoft Project®; and procurement, contracting and negotiating.

Doctor of Management in Emerging Media

The Doctor of Management (DM) is a professionally focused degree that offers you the opportunity to develop specialized knowledge in a particular field of interest through research and intensive study. Colorado Technical University offers a concentration in Emerging Media that uses a multidisciplinary approach to examine how social networks, new media, web science and virtual worlds are reshaping business, education, research and entertainment.

Doctor of Management in Global Leadership

The Doctor of Management (DM) is a professionally focused degree that offers you the opportunity to develop specialized knowledge in a particular field of interest through research and intensive study.
