Portland State University, a nationally acclaimed leader in
community-based learning, is located along the tree-lined South
Park Blocks of downtown Portland. The University's position in
the heart of Oregon's economic and cultural center enables PSU
students and faculty to apply scholarly theory to the real-world
problems of business and community organizations. Portland State
offers over 100 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees, as
well as graduate certificates and continuing education programs.
PSU serves more students and confers more graduate degrees
annually than any other Oregon university.

Administration, gives you the academic integrity and practical

Why an MIM degree?
The MIM degree is for those who want to be leaders in the
international business arena. The MIM program provides you with
international rather than general business skills. Not only do
you acquire a proficiency in a foreign language, but a deep
knowledge of the political and economic environments in which the
leaders of the global economy work.

What are the unique features of the MIM program?
Outdoor Team Building
The MIM Program begins with a four-day, outdoor team-building
excursion where students learn about their fellow classmates,
teamwork and a little about themselves. Given the accelerated
nature of the MIM Program, the team-building experience is
extremely valuable in helping students break down barriers and
begin working in the small group settings demanded by the MIM
Program.
International Language Study and Field Study
Language study is also an essential part of the MIM Program
curriculum. All students must choose to study either Chinese or
Japanese while enrolled in the MIM Program. Students then broaden
their experience through the Asia Field Study Trip. From the last
week of February to the third week of March, full-time and second
year part-time MIM students travel to Tokyo, Japan; Shanghai, PR
China and Beijing, PR China, spending a week in each city and
participating in various company visits and university lectures.
Age of the Pacific Seminar Series
This is a unique program funded by Phil Knight, CEO of Nike. This
seminar series takes place in Term 4 for both Full-Time and
Part-Time students and is designed to give MIM students exposure
to various aspects of international business.
Management Assessment and Coaching System (MACS)
MACS is a year-long process to help students develop the team and
management skills they will need to be successful global
managers. Students undergo a series of assessments to help them
understand their own personalities and learning styles,
decision-making styles and conflict resolution approaches.
Throughout the year, they receive regular feedback from team
members and professors – helping them to understand better
how to be an effective member of a larger group.
Exit Project
All MIM students complete an exit project by the end of the MIM
Program. The exit project requirement is set up as a “real
world” business project. Students can either go out and
find an exit project to work on or pick a project that has been
brought from a company to the MIM Program.
Recent examples of MIM exit projects include:
- "Expanding Sales in Latin America, Tektronix"
- "Market Entry for Chemical Distribution, GW International"
- "Entering the Thai Pension Market, State Street"
- "Global Product Design Process for Apparel Division, Nike"
What do MIM graduates go on to do?
