Graduates will be qualified for a variety of general office positions. Students learn a variety of software applications in the Microsoft Office environment, geared for use in the modern automated office. Keyboarding skills are developed to a minimum speed of 50 WPM. Training emphasis includes learning strong communication and critical thinking skills. Students utilize 10-key and numeric keypad by touch and train for certification as Microsoft Office Specialist in both MS Word and Excel. Students develop effective filing skills as well as skills in both written and oral communication for customer service and general office interaction. They develop database management skills, utilizing MS Access. Additionally, students receive entry-level hands-on instruction in other application software, including MS PowerPoint and Outlook.

Graduates from this program will have a strong foundation in accounting principles in a variety of business settings, such as proprietorship, partnership and corporation. Graduating students will be familiar with and develop competence and skills for the entire fiscal cycle, from journal entries to closing entries and post closing trial balance in the three different perspectives.

Additionally, they will be familiar with payroll procedures and processes and the laws governing payroll for California and Federal tax reporting. Keyboarding skills are developed to a minimum speed of 45 WPM. Training emphasis includes learning strong communication and critical thinking skills. Students utilize 10-key and numeric keypad by touch and train for certification as Microsoft Office Specialist in both MS Word and Excel. They develop competency in Accounting Software Applications, such as QuickBooks and Peachtree Accounting packages. Students will also develop entry-level hands-on training in other applications, such as MS Access and PowerPoint.

Diploma - Human Resource Administrator

This program will train students to work in a human resource office or department for small or large companies. Students learn federal and state law related to labor, health, safety, security and worker's compensation. Studies include employee benefits, training and potential personnel problems. Students develop conflict resolution skills for use in an HR setting. Keyboarding skills are developed to a minimum speed of 45 WPM. Training emphasis includes learning strong communication and critical thinking skills. Additionally, students train for Microsoft Office Specialist certification in MS Word and Excel and develop communications and organizational skills.
