The objective of the Accounting Specialist program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required for a variety of entry-level positions in accounting such as staff accountant, tax specialist, cost accountant and business analyst, as well as positions in information systems. The Accounting Specialist program prepares graduates for the many possibilities of the accounting profession. The program integrates technical skills with accounting theory and practice that allows students to master the knowledge and skills needed to gain challenging employment in the accounting field. Associate of Applied Science in Travel and TourismBack to topThe objective of the Travel and Tourism program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills and work habits required for a variety of entry-level positions ranging from customer service agents, airline station managers, car rental reservationists and travel agents to supervisory positions, such as hotel management. The ability to work in teams and to understand co-workers and client needs in all modes of communication is integral to success in the travel industry. All aspects of travel are studied including airline, rail, cruises, motor coach, corporate travel, theme parks, and conventions and special events. Students are trained using a live APOLLO system-the computer reservation system used by United Airlines. Students prepare and study for the CTA (Certified Travel Associate), TAP certification, DS (Destination Specialist), and the USTOA (Tour Certification). Kaplan University is a certified ICTA training center, and all testing is completed at the College. Duties for the graduates of this program will include domestic and international ticketing; marketing travel services; scheduling cruise, motor coach, rail and car reservations; and providing customer service.
