This program provides a thorough and integrated progressive study of the IBM compatible computer and its related network/Internet technologies for those seeking a rewarding career as an Information Technology (IT) professional. Students will study computer hardware, operating systems, and applications. They will learn how to remove, install, debug, and troubleshoot all major system and networking components. They will also learn the functions and interactions of those components. Networking and Internet topologies will be profiled and examined, so that the student is familiar with the design, structure, and layout of networking systems. The impact of the Internet on local area networks and business operations and communications will be delineated. On the software side, students will learn to work with industry-standard applications programs, and will understand the use of application programs in computer systems and in the world of business. The Microsoft family of operating systems will be covered extensively, so that students are able to effectively deploy and support those industry-standard platforms. Networking via Windows as well as Linux are profiled, with the course work and significant self-study preparing students for the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), the A+, Network+, and I-Net+ certification tests - even the coveted Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification.
