AAS - Accounting

Accounting is a core program for any educational institution that is serious about business, and it's no different at National American University. The Associate of Applied Science degree in Accounting provides specialized education for various entry-level positions in the accounting profession. It's also designed for easy transfer into the bachelor's degree in accounting. The Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree program is an excellent program that provides students with the preparation needed to sit for the certified managerial accounting (CMA) exam as well as the certified public accountant (CPA) exam in those states not requiring the fifth year of education. Students planning to take the exam in these states will take the CPA review courses as part of their undergraduate degree. For graduates with a bachelor's degree in accounting, many career opportunities exist as private accountants for corporations, partnerships, sole proprietorships, government agencies or non-profit organizations.

NAU's Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Management is an excellent choice for students who already hold degrees, diplomas or certificates in specialty areas, such as merchandising, dental hygiene, electronics, medical assisting, drafting, welding or other vocational areas. Combined with our sound business and general education courses, this degree prepares graduates for advancement in management areas associated with their specialty fields.

Two options are available in this program: (1) transfer of credit from the source of the specialty training, or (2) creation of a specialty area using National American University courses. This program provides students with a thorough understanding of theory and application related to the business environment so they can collect and analyze data, identify alternative solutions and select the most appropriate course of action for specific business problems. It also gives them an understanding of professional ethics and its application to the business environment.
