Some campuses offer a combined campus-based and online learning format. While widely available, not all learning formats are offered at all locations.

Campus-Based Learning Format

Providing the convenience of attending classes near your home or workplace.

  • Attend class just once a week. Classes are offered in the evening or on weekends. Some campuses offer day classes.
  • Complete homework assignments on your own, as well as with your learning team.

Online Learning Format

Providing the flexibility of a 100% online education.

  • Complete coursework through electronic forums
  • Download lectures and assignments from your student website and study them at your convenience.
  • Login to class at least four days per week for University of Phoenix or three days per week for Axia College of University of Phoenix. You choose the days and times.

The Bachelor of Science in Business program is designed to prepare graduates with the requisite knowledge, skills and values to effectively apply various business principles and tools in an organizational setting. The Bachelor of Science in Business entry sequence exposes students to valuable theoretical knowledge and best practices in the areas of management, organizational behavior, research and evaluation, and critical thinking and problem solving. In all program course work, the curriculum addresses critical business issues in the areas of diversity, globalization, ethics, technology and e-business.

The Bachelor of Science in Business offers the following concentrations:

Administration

The Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Administration is designed to enable graduates to deal effectively with an increasingly complex business environment. The concentration courses stress skill development in the areas of management, decision making, accounting and finance, quantitative analysis, economics, marketing, and utilization of research findings.

Information Systems

The Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Information Systems focuses on the role and implementation of information systems in today's business environment. Students learn the fundamentals of business systems development and project planning and implementation, as well as concepts in software programming, database analysis and design and telecommunication systems.

Management

The Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Management focuses on managing human and fiscal resources within the structure, culture and mission of any organization. The curriculum stresses skill development in the areas of critical thinking and decision making, organizational behavior, global business strategies, quality management and productivity, human resource management, and employment law.

The Bachelor of Science in Management degree program is designed to develop students' professional knowledge and skills for improving organizational effectiveness. The concentration courses in this program emphasize an understanding of the skills necessary to manage human and fiscal resources within the structure, culture and mission of any organization.

The Master of Business Administration program is designed to enhance the management skills students need to function effectively within an organization. Students will create and defend their solutions to problems of crisis management, profitable growth opportunities, and change leadership. Throughout the program, students gain experience in distilling a situation into a well-defined problem; applying tools and concepts to analyze a variety of alternative solutions; and selecting and defending their recommended course of action. The Master of Business Administration program at University of Phoenix utilizes problem-based learning where students refine their problem solving skills along with their communication, creativity, information utilization and critical thinking skills.

The Master of Business Administration program offers the following concentrations:

Accounting

Students in the accounting concentration will build upon the managerial skills developed in the MBA required course of study by developing an understanding of accounting concepts and applications. Students will also become competent in the use of appropriate analytical tools and technologies. They will be sensitive to legal, ethical and social values in the conduct and communication of accounting practice and decisions. In addition, students will have an understanding of a portion of the topics required in preparation for the CPA exam: Audit & Attestation, Financial Accounting & Reporting, Regulation, and Business Environment & Concepts.

Global Management

The global management concentration is designed for students who want to expand business cross-border or manage within a multi-national organization. Students completing the global management concentration will develop the managerial skills emphasized within the MBA required course of study in the context of cross-border business opportunities. Students will understand the challenges presented by international economic, political, legal and socio-cultural differences.

Health Care Management

The health care management concentration is designed for students wanting to develop skills in the management of business operations in health care services organizations, health care related industries, small individual or group practices, and health insurance. Students in the health care management concentration will develop the managerial skills emphasized within the MBA required course of study in the context of challenges faced in the health care industry. They will be sensitive to legal, ethical and social values in the management of health care resources.

Human Resource Management

Students in the human resource management concentration will build upon the managerial skills developed in the MBA required course of study by developing an understanding of human resource management concepts and applications. They will be sensitive to legal, ethical and social values in the conduct of human resource management practice. At the completion of the concentration, students will have knowledge of a substantial portion of the topics required for certification by the Society of Human Resource Professionals.

Marketing

Students in the marketing concentration will build upon the managerial skills developed in the MBA required course of study program by developing an understanding of marketing concepts and applications. Students will develop and communicate innovative approaches to stakeholders in a socially responsible manner and will be well positioned for several professionally recognized marketing certification exams.

Technology Management

Students completing the technology management concentration will develop the managerial skills emphasized within the MBA required course of study in the context of challenges faced by integrating business with technology. Students completing this concentration will develop communication skills that bridge the gap between technical and non-technical audiences.
