Gallup University and the University of Nebraska - Lincoln
In 2001, leaders from Gallup University and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln met to discuss leadership development. Their desire was to create a visionary, strengths-based executive leadership development degree program that enhances the leadership of senior executives and expands the strengths of emerging leaders, while addressing the critical business needs of the sponsoring organization.
From this discussion the world's first strengths-based graduate program emerged: The MBA and MA in Executive Leadership.
The Gallup Organization and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) have one of the world's only established and successful partnerships between a private business and a nationally ranked public university. This partnership gives our program the unique capacity to focus on truly relevant business initiatives, while maintaining a solid academic and theoretical base.
MBA or MA in Executive Leadership (Distance Learning)
The executive leadership program was designed with a powerful goal in mind: to accelerate each leader's development and performance and, in turn, to educate his or her organization about the measures that matter in developing people and growing business.
The executive leadership program is different from the traditional programs that most of today's leaders are familiar with. Traditional programs emphasize how to buy and sell companies, create synergies and cut costs. Our program seeks to accelerate organic growth by building a strong core inside an organization's leadership.
The program builds this capacity through an individualized learning approach that complements leaders' talents, strengths and goals, real-world projects tailored to their business objectives, and personal executive coaching that continues for three years after graduation.
Education is delivered through a combination of on-site intensive learning sessions, online learning and executive performance coaching. Top faculty from the University of Nebraska, Gallup University and other universities around the world are educators in this program.
During this program, leaders meet with their learning group three times for 10-day intensive learning experiences at one of the following locations:
- Omaha
- Los Angeles (Toyota University)
- Beijing
The learning modules cover these vital facets of leadership:
- Leadership Foundations
- Leadership Operations
- Leadership Strategy
These sessions include presentations by faculty members, authors, world-class leaders and guest lecturers, in addition to site visits to high-performing local organizations and immersion activities in the local culture.
Between sessions, leaders take the concepts they learn and implement them in their organizations through current and relevant business projects. Students will also learn through distance learning classes designed specifically for the working professional.
This program can culminate in either an MBA or an MA degree. Both programs are 18 months in duration. The MA program requires 36 credit hours and a $61,600 investment. The MBA program consists of 48 credit hours and a $68,500 investment.
Leaders pursuing their MBA take four additional courses that are dispersed throughout the 18-month degree time span:
- Economics
- Accounting
- Finance
- Marketing
