Every type of business, large or small, needs employees skilled in the area of accounting. At Salter College, you'll learn accounting methods, computer software, management and professional skills. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared for a position in payroll, accounts payable/receivable, tax preparation, banking, bookkeeping or the specialty of your choice. The office administration program prepares students for employment as part of the professional office administrative teams in executive, legal or medical offices. The students will develop extensive computer competencies and analytical skills using Microsoft Office Applications and computerized accounting software. The combination and balance of office administration skills with humanities and social science courses prepare Salter students to integrate all office and computer competencies skillfully into the work environment, to think critically, communicate effectively, demonstrate professional level interpersonal skills, and make clear decisions as required by today's professional office administrators. The curriculum is designed to cover the full range of skills required for the office administrator including multi-tasking, prioritizing tasks, creating and presenting data using PowerPoint and the continuation of life-long learning in a technology-driven career. The office administration program offers three concentrations for student choice: executive, legal and medical. Each concentration has courses to support the specific area of interest. All students are provided with the skills to successfully participate in Microsoft Office Users Specialist (MOUS) Certification. Certificate in Business Office SupportBack to topThe Business Office Support Certificate program prepares students for employment within any office setting as a support member of the office team. Students will develop a wide variety of computer skills using Microsoft Office Applications and computerized accounting software. Students will develop the interpersonal, communication foundations and key office skills to enhance their value within a company or organization. The externship component provides practical experiences in the work place, a capstone for all the program student learning outcomes and invaluable prior work experience for student resumes. Students are provided with the skills to successfully participate in Microsoft Office Users Specialist Certification (MOUS).
