Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
Back to topThe BBA program focuses on developing knowledge and skills in core areas of management practice, as well as the ability to analyze and synthesize data from both outside and inside. The curriculum is designed to equip you with the competencies, knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for success in management positions in the global workplace. The coursework gives you a broad and holistic view of the complexity of issues in today's business environment. The BBA program provides the basis for career growth, as well as a stepping stone to a graduate program. It enables students to develop and demonstrate competencies in the five main management areas: effective communication, application of quantitative methods, problem solving, decision-making and critical analysis, and leadership.
BBA Program Objectives:
Graduates of the BBA program will be able to demonstrate competency in the following areas:
- Effective communication;
- Application of quantitative methods to describe business issues and possible solutions;
- Utilization of principles of economics, finance, and accounting to formulate solutions to business problems;
- Application of research data and information technology to solve business problems;
- Awareness of the environmental factors, functional relationships, and ethical standards that affect business decisions within an organization;
- Comprehension of the dynamic nature of business and requisite need to maintain currency of knowledge.
Communication
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a specialization in Communication program is designed to prepare graduates with the requisite knowledge, skills, and values to effectively apply various business principles and tools in an organizational setting. This program is designed to develop the knowledge and skills for effective communication within the business environment. The communications specialization focuses on the development of professional competencies and values in such areas as public relations, communications theory, communication law and ethics, mass communication, media and advertising, and applications in business communications.
Finance
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a specialization in Finance program is designed to prepare graduates with the requisite knowledge and skills to effectively apply financial concepts and tools in various organizational scenarios from a generalist perspective. Technology, ethics, e-business, critical thinking, problem solving, research methods and statistical analysis are emphasized throughout the curriculum. The Finance major emphasizes fundamental accounting and finance concepts, theories, and practice to promote well informed financial decision-making. Additional components of the major concentrate on managerial finance, investment fundamentals and portfolio management, and global finance. Students will integrate advanced topics in financial management through real-world business application.
Global Management
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a specialization in Global Management program is designed to prepare graduates with the requisite knowledge, skills, and values to effectively apply various business principles and tools in an organizational setting. Components of the Major include: international marketing, international trade and investment, global finance, global human resource management, and global value-chain management. Students will integrate advanced topics in global business management through real-life applications. The program promotes the development of a "global mindset" and reflects the dynamic nature of global business realities.
Hospitality Management
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a specialization in Hospitality Management program is designed to prepare graduates with the requisite knowledge, skills, and values to effectively apply various business principles and tools in an organizational setting. The hospitality management major will prepare students for careers in the hospitality industry. The program emphasizes the development of skills in lodging management; food and beverage operations management; events and recreation planning; and facilities management. Upon completion of this program students will possess the knowledge and skills needed to become leaders in the hospitality industry.
Human Resources Management
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a specialization in Human Resources Management focuses on issues which the human resource professional faces daily, from legal matters to staff recruitment and development. This program is designed for those who have functional responsibility to carry out the duties of an organization's human resource department; seasoned human resource staff members wishing to keep current; newcomers to the field requiring new knowledge and skills; and specialists wanting to broaden their knowledge. Major topic areas covered include the role of human resources, employment practices, employee and labour relations, compensation, benefits, safety and health, and employee development. Participants acquire knowledge and skills that are essential in addressing the challenges of the human resource profession.
Integrated Supply Chain Operations Management
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a specialization in Integrated Supply Chain Operations Management prepares graduates with the requisite knowledge, skills, and values to effectively apply various business principles and tools in an organizational setting. This major concentrates on strategic performance improvement of all business planning, global sourcing and procurement, production, and logistical activities that make up an organization's supply chain. The program highlights the important role a supply chain plays in satisfying customer demands and expectations. The management major emphasizes performance systems, employment law, marketing, public relations, financial analysis, global business strategies, and quality management.
Marketing
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a specialization in Marketing focuses on marketing managers; creative, analytical, and leadership abilities to manage the marketing function of the business enterprise. The marketing major addresses how to identify customer needs, how to communicate information about products and services to customers and potential customers, where to market and how to price products and services, and how to respond to growing demands of markets in different countries and cultures.

The courses provide fundamental knowledge and applications in both the information systems function and system development – but the program also cultivates general business skills, as it builds your awareness of IT from a business perspective.
The curriculum is designed to produce accomplished graduates with the competencies, knowledge, skills, and attitudes so eagerly sought in the globalized IT workplace. BITM Program Objectives
Graduates of the BITM program will be ideally equipped to become business leaders in the Information Technology sector and will be able to demonstrate competency in the following areas:

- Application of basic programming skills in Java, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, and database management.
- Implementation of Web-based solutions for e-commerce projects.

- Contribution to the design and implementation of telecommunications and network systems.
Visual Communications
The Bachelor of Information Technology Management (BITM) specialization in Visual Communication concentrates on the design and development of digital media presentations. The BITM/VC uses graphic design and technology tools to create visual communications that are relevant to organizations. As a result, graduates possesses a diverse portfolio including Web sites, rich media advertising, corporate reports, business presentations, instructional materials, animated movies, and electronic publications that fulfill business and training needs.
