Master of Business AdministrationBack to topThe University's Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program is designed to prepare individuals for successful careers in the ever-changing and complex world of business- one that is increasingly global and in need of socially responsible and ethical decision-makers and leaders. The MBA program, through its curriculum and teaching, places strong emphasis on the application of business theory to contemporary issues faced by both private and public sector organizations. A main focus of the program is to understand how business enterprises can remain relevant and competitive in an increasingly global economy, characterized by rapid technological change and increasing demands from consumers for value and superior quality and services. All graduate courses in the John F. Welch College of Business are conducted on a trimester schedule, with the main terms being Fall, Spring and Late Spring. The MBA program consists of a prescribed pattern of graduate courses. The entire program is based on a common core of courses that examines all the functions within a business enterprise and the external environment within which it operates. Beyond this core, the student may choose to study in-depth in one of three academic concentrations. Students may specify five of their electives in a business discipline to earn a concentration from the following categories. Students who are interested in taking an assortment of electives will receive a management concentration.
MBA for Liberal Arts StudentsBack to topThis full-time program is designed for the non-business major who decides that an MBA degree would benefit their career path. The program incorporates domestic and international internship opportunities that provide students with valuable exposure to the world of business and within their specific field of interest. Our full-time MBA enhances students' career options by providing a broad base in accounting, finance and management, real-world experience, a focus on the globalization of business, while building on the Liberal Arts students' foundation in critical thinking, problem solving, and communication. Other features include an orientation week, laptop program and wi-fi access across campus, free fitness membership, and career counseling. Graduate Professional CertificatesBack to topStudents who would like to specialize in one of the areas below without pursuing a full MBA degree, or those who already have a master's degree and would like to upgrade their skills may want to consider a four-course Graduate Professional Certificate. Students who have successfully completed a certificate and wish to apply to the master's program may use their previously earned credits toward obtaining the master's degree (if accepted).
MBA Program in LuxembourgBack to topSacred Heart University also offers an opportunity to learn about diverse cultures and backgrounds first-hand by working closely with other students outside the US by studying at our Luxembourg campus. Students have the option of enrolling in a two week course, a six week session, a trimester or completion of your MBA abroad. Additional exposure to the international community will come from video conferenced courses and seminars attended by your Luxembourg colleagues. Sacred Heart University has been in Luxembourg for over a decade with the only US accredited MBA program in the country. In that time, we have educated many native Europeans as well as many non-Europeans.
