Combined BA / MBA Degree (5-Year Program)
Learn about combined BA / MBA degree programs and how you can earn both in five years.
Combined BA / MBA degree programs, also called BS / MBA or 4+1 programs, allow students to substitute an undergraduate business degree for the first year of the traditional, two-year MBA curriculum.
After completing their undergraduate degree, students move directly into the MBA program and are able to complete it in one year.
A combined BA / MBA degree program allows an undergraduate to complete a bachelor and master's degree program in five years.
How to Apply for a Combined BA / MBA Degree Program
Generally, students will apply to the program during their junior year and candidates are evaluated based upon their academic achievements. In most cases a GPA of 3.0 may be required to be considered and some schools require submission of your GMAT score (learn about no-GMAT MBAs here) and letters of recommendation from faculty or staff members. Additionally, you may be required to compose a statement of objective or participate in an internship in order to be accepted into the program.
Students who are admitted will enjoy several benefits, some of which include the following:
- Earn your MBA in half the standard time (one year instead of two or more)
- Save a year's tuition, room, board and miscellaneous campus fees, such as parking and meals
- Gain an edge in the job market and increase your earning potential
If you think earning a combined BA / MBA degree program will suit your goals and propel you into the job market higher up the business career ladder, why not start researching combined programs today? There's nothing to lose by taking the time, and everything to gain.
